An event venue in the heart of Budapest
Jardinette is an excellent venue for various events in the green part of Budapest. In addition to doing our best to give high-standard service to our à la carte guests, we provide an excellent venue for company and family events and celebrations. A total of 130 persons can be seated indoors.
The atmospheric, more than 100-year-old stone building seats 50 guests and the glass winter garden built in 2001 seats 80 persons.
The Jardinette restaurant is no ordinary event venue. It took its name, which means ‘little garden’, from its beautiful garden surounded and shaded by giant chestnut trees, where a further 70 guests can be seated, who can enjoy the natural scenery from spring to autumn.
The restaurant’s small, rustic wine cellar ia also worth a visit, something of a rarity as far as event venues go in the heart of Budapest. It seats 15 persons, where wine, pálinka or cheese tastings can be organised for our guests.
Jardinette has a long history.
Some 150 years ago this was the preferred resting spot for those transporting water barrels by donkies from the Danube. Hence the name that was given at the time for the restaurant the Szürke Csacsi (The Grey Donkey).
The new owner Péter Kálmán realized that a name like Jardinette would be ideal, projecting a „Joie de vivre” feeling with the fragrance of spring flowers and the cool summer shade casted by the large trees.
The word “good” is a relative term perceived differently by each individual. We may have found a way to offer the best to our customers. Good hospitality requires: caring, a pleasant, friendly, family environment with savoury food. Our hospitality has also been put to the test by those celebrating their birthdays, reception for newlyweds (weddings) and competitors in cooking competitions.
A modern family environment serving exquisite Hungarian cuisine with a different monthly menu selection of Buda Classics and Chef’s specialties with offering of creative tasty dishes; all this to provide you with a continued, enhanced savoury experience.
The restaurant is these days run by Zoltán Kálmán, oldest son of the founder. Zoltán left 20 years of experience of banking in multinational environment recently to take over family business.
Zoltán is also famous for being the founder of Kés-Villa-Buda (Knife-Fork-Buda), an association of Buda restaurants that keep traditions and run places with high level of guest satisfaction and experience.
